New ways we can help
We’re still providing support remotely!
We've developed a range of modified programs to help you and your family celebrate summer as safely as possible!
These centres for vulnerable youth are still operating. The Vanauley Street YMCA is an emergency shelter offering harm-reduction and trauma-informed residential services to at-risk young men who are experiencing homelessness. YMCA Sprott House is a 2SLGBTQ+ transitional housing program offering one year of supported residential living for young people between the ages of 16 to 24. The City of Toronto has developed a protocol in the event that any participants need to self-isolate.
Students in our middle- and high-school for youth who learn differently are currently attending classes online from home.
YMCA Community Action Network
We’re already running this program remotely in many places across the country and are working hard to bring you more online options. We’re hoping to start up again this summer, but will continue monitoring the situation and following the direction of public health authorities. Please check back in the future for more updates.
YMCA Youth Exchanges Canada
We will continue to take our lead from health authorities as we monitor the impacts of COVID-19 on our programs. This section will be updated as new information becomes available and the direction of our program over the next few months is decided. If you have any questions about your exchange, please contact us at email@example.com.
YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange
The safety of our participants, staff, host families and community partners is our priority. YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange (SWSE) will be following the direction of government and local health authorities regarding travel and other health protocols to keep everyone as safe as possible next summer 2021. We will be prepared with all the physical and program modifications required to provide everyone with a safer and positive exchange. Our youth shine the brightest when they are able to increase their skills and grow as independent young adults. We are hopeful this will be possible next year and so we are excited to announce we are re-opening applications for Summer 2021.
We are currently planning how we will make our exchange program safer and more secure for everyone. Please stay tuned for more information. Registrations received now will be guaranteed to receive an interview and ongoing updates regarding the program.
All volunteering and student placements have been suspended temporarily.
