We are still awaiting direction from government and public health on the safe operations of Day Camps and the safe resumption of Overnight Camp. Our program registration is open and once regulations released we will review in its entirety and communicate and changes or updates to our programs at that time.
Safety measures will be set by Public Health. In the case of Day Camp the latest version is expected to be updated prior to summer but for an in-depth look at the current safety measures click here. In terms of Overnight Camp the government has yet to release regulations and we are closely monitoring their pending release to ensure we resume operations safely. .
Before participating in a Camps & Outdoor Education program, all participants and staff are screened with questions provided from Public Health that are designed to screen for illness.
All YMCA Camps & Outdoor Education staff are required to wear a mask. Masks are not required when eating or drinking. Staff that are facilitating the screening for staff and campers will wear a face shield and gloves.
All campers and participants will be required to wear masks and/or face coverings while at camp and in program. The only time masks are NOT required is when campers and partcipants are eating and drinking. Parents/guardians are responsible for providing their child(ren) with masks. If children are given disposable masks, we advise providing extra daily in case of contamination. As regulations continue to evolve, YMCA Camps & Outdoor education will follow the guidance of local public health units and provincial regulations.
At all times while campers, participants and staff are in program, physical distancing will be encouraged. All program offerings will be done in a safe manner with respect to physical distancing.
All locations will have thorough cleaning and disinfecting measures in place. There will be staff to dedicated to cleaning and disinfecting to ensure that this is being done. There will be limited shared spaces and equipment, and in the case that supplies are shared, there will be thorough cleaning between use.
